The Higg Index is a suite of five modules/tools that assess and measure the social and environmental performance of the value chain and the environmental impacts of products. These tools were developed to help organizations to make systematic change by identifying, understanding, and measuring areas of improvement.
Cascale, formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, is an industry-wide non-profit alliance with over 300 members representing every link of the global value chain, including a wide variety of brands, retailers, manufacturers, sourcing agents, service providers, trade organizations, nonprofits, NGOs, and academic institutions.
The Higg Index is divided into the following five modules, each focusing on different aspects of sustainability:

The Higg Facility Environmental Module (Higg FEM) is a transformative tool used to assess the environmental impact of product manufacturing at facilities. The Higg FEM paints a clear picture of a facility’s environmental impacts. Every stage of the production process is captured through this tool – from water use to waste management, to chemical and energy use. In doing so, it not only uncovers hotspot areas for improvement, but also reduces redundancy, mitigates risk and creates a common language to communicate sustainability to stakeholders.
The Higg Facility Social & Labor Module (Higg FSLM) promotes safe and fair social and labor conditions globally for value chain workers. Businesses should not aim for compliance, but long-term, systematic change that positively impacts the lives of all throughout the supply chain. Built on the converged framework of the Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP), brands, retailers and manufacturers of all sizes use the Higg FSLM to assess the working conditions of those who produce billions of consumer goods every year.
Cascale has now confirmed that AMANN China has renewed its Higg FEM an Higg FSLM certification and AMANN Vietnam has received the certification Higg FEM an Higg FSLM certification for the first time.
Now, AMANN Bangladesh, who renewed their certification recently, and AMANN China as well as AMANN Vietnam are certified according to Higg FEM and Higg FSLM.
